Overview

What is a Kurnia Travel Supreme Claim?

A claim towards incurred expenses while travelling abroad including from East to West Malaysia and vice versa from unexpected events like accidental death, permanent total disablement, medical expenses, hospital allowance, delayed baggage, travel delay, loss of money, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation, loss of deposit or cancellation / curtailment, compassionate visitation, home contents, additional costs of rental car return.

Who can make a Kurnia Travel Supreme Claim?

An individual Insured person (s) or a valid Nominee/Estate when acting on behalf of someone who has died due to causes within the meaning stipulated under the policy.

How To Make A Claim?

What Are The Supporting Documents

The below details are the minimum required documents to support your claim. Please be aware, however, that the claims examiner may require additional documentation at the time of review of your claim.

To expedite the claim process, provide all documentation directly to the claims examiner and include your claim number in your documents submission.

a) Medical Expenses

  • Duly completed Claim Form
  • Original medical bills and receipts (incurred outside Malaysia/abroad)
  • Medical Report (if any)
  • A copy of airline ticket and boarding pass
  • A copy of passport

b) Baggage and Personal Effects

  • Duly completed Claim Form
  • Copy of airline ticket and boarding pass
  • Police report or Property Irregularity Report  from airlines
  • A copy of passport
  • Previous purchase invoice and/or details description of the lost / damaged baggage and/or personal effects
  • Original photographs of damaged baggage and personal effects

c) Loss of Money and/or Travel Documents

  • Duly completed Claim Form
  • Copy of airline ticket and boarding pass
  • Police report (to be lodged within 24 hours)
  • A copy of passport
  • A copy of currency exchange slip
  • Original receipts for expenses incurred (loss of travel documents)

d) Travel Delay

  • Duly completed Claim Form
  • Copy of airline ticket and boarding pass
  • A copy of passport
  • Confirmation Letter from airline to confirm the reason and the duration of the delay

e) Loss of Deposit / Cancellation

  • Duly completed Claim Form
  • Copy of airline ticket and boarding pass
  • A copy of passport
  • Original receipt for travel expenses paid (e.g : airline ticket, hotel accommodation, etc)
  • Medical Report or Letter from a registered medical practitioner to confirm Insured Person's medical condition
  • A copy of Death Certificate (death of family members)
  • Proof of relationship (Insured Person and the deceased)
  • Breakdown of tour fare paid (when involving travel agency)

General FAQ

1. Why do I need Travel Insurance?

Our Kurnia Travel Supreme policy can protect your financial loss (up to the amount of your policy limits) should your trip be cancelled or interrupted for a covered reason, as well as provide additional benefits like baggage protection and emergency medical coverage.

2. Can I claim for travel delay?

Yes.  In the event that the aircraft or sea vessel or Common Carrier in which the Insured Person had arranged to travel is delayed for at least six (6) consecutive hours at any single destination from the time specified in the itinerary supplied to the Insured Person due to strike, industrial action, adverse weather conditions or mechanical breakdown / derangement of that aircraft or sea vessel or due to grounding of an aircraft or sea vessel as a result of mechanical or structural defect, as confirmed by the airline or shipping line, the Company will pay RM250 for every complete six (6) consecutive hours of delay (the delay being calculated from the departure time of the aircraft or sea vessel specified in the itinerary).

3. Can I make a claim due to missed flight?

Yes. The Company will pay additional accommodation and travel costs necessarily and reasonably incurred (up to a limit stated in Schedule of Benefit) while returning to Malaysia, due to mechanical breakdown of common carrier services.

Insured / Insured Person must obtain confirmation of mechanical breakdown in writing from Common Carrier or their handling agents

4. If I cancel my trip, am I entitled to a claim?

Yes. The Company will reimburse for irrecoverable travel expenses paid in advance if trip is cancelled due to covered events as follows:

  • The Insured Person and / or his / her Immediate Family Member suffer death, Serious Injury or Serious Illness. A death certificate must be obtained or written advice from the attending Medical Practitioner treating the Insured Person and / or his / her Immediate Family Member confirming the advisability to cancel the planned trip due to Serious Injury or Serious Illness.
  • Unexpected outbreak of strike, riot or civil commotion arising out of circumstances beyond the Insured Person's control at the planned destination.
  • Witness summons, which were not made known to you prior to purchasing this insurance.
  • Serious damage to Insured Person's permanent residence in Malaysia due to fire, flood or similar natural disaster occurring one week before the commencement date of the trip and your presence is required on the premises on the commencement date of the trip.

5. Am I entitled to claim for delayed baggage?

Yes. The Company will pay RM250.00 for every complete and consecutive six (6) hours for emergency purchases of essential items of clothing or requisites consequent upon temporary deprivation of baggage from the time of arrival at destination abroad including East to West Malaysia and vice versa due to misdirection in delivery as confirmed by the airline or shipping line.

6. If my baggage was damaged, can I claim for replacement instead of repair?

In the event that the Insured Person purchases a comparable replacement for the lost/damage article, the Company will pay the replacement cost provided the lost/damage article was not more than two (2) years old at the date of loss.

If the Insured Person cannot prove the age of the lost/damage article and if the article is more than two (2) years old or if the article is not replaced the Company will deal with the claim on the basis of purchase value of the article, subject to depreciation for wear and tear or the cost of repair, whichever is lesser.

Company shall not be liable for more than RM500 in respect of any one article or pair or set of articles.

7. If I lost my passport during the trip, is it claimable?

The Company will pay for cost of obtaining replacement travel documents including additional travel and accommodation expenses reasonably incurred overseas that are essential to continue and complete your journey arising out of theft whilst abroad including East to West Malaysia and vice versa during the Period of Insurance.

For such losses, the Insured Person must report to the local police station at the place of loss within twenty four (24) hours after the incident and he / she must obtain a police report to substantiate the claim.

8. If I am travelling with my friend, do we need to buy separate travel insurance policies?

No, you and your friend can buy the "Group" plan for a "Single Trip". However, for Annual plan, you will each have to buy a separate policy.

9. What is the eligibility for coverage?

  • The Insured Person shall not be less than thirty (30) days nor more than eighty (80) years of age
  • The Insured Person should be a Malaysian or a Permanent Resident of Malaysia or Work Permit Holders in Malaysia and their dependents residing in Malaysia.
  • This Insurance is not valid for travel exceeding a period of hundred (100) days consecutive for Annual Trip Plan / Policy and one hundred and eighty (180) days consecutively for Per Trip Plan

10. What constitutes a "pre-existing condition"?

Pre-Existing Conditions" is defined in the Policy as:-

Any medical conditions of an Insured Person:

  • which have been diagnosed; or
  • for which symptoms existed that would cause an ordinary prudent person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment;
  • for which medical treatment was recommended by Medical Practitioner, irrespective of whether the treatment was actually received prior to the Commencement Date of this Policy"

11. Can I pay extra to cover pre-existing conditions?

No. The coverage does not extend to this option

12. I am pregnant. Will I be covered for any pregnancy-related matters while I am overseas?

No. Pregnancy falls under General Exclusions of the Policy.

13. If I was ill overseas but only sought medical treatment when I'm back in Malaysia, can I make a claim?

The Company will only reimburse / pays Insured Person for Medical Expenses incurred outside Malaysia but including East Malaysia for West Malaysia residents and vice versa giving rise to a claim as a direct result of Accidental bodily Injury sustained by or Illness of the Insured Person occurring during the Period of Insurance.

14. Is dental treatment covered?

Yes, for alleviation of sudden pain excluding replacement of dentures and crowns incurred outside Malaysia but including East Malaysia for West Malaysia residents and vice versa giving rise to a claim as a direct result of Accidental bodily Injury sustained by or Illness of the Insured Person occurring during the Period of Insurance.

15. Will the policy cover for any loss and/or damages to my property while I am abroad?

In the event Insured Person incurs physical loss or damage to Home Contents within permanent residence in Malaysia including East to West Malaysia and vice versa that left vacant while abroad including East to West Malaysia and vice versa, as a result of Fire or Theft during the Period of Insurance, then the Company shall reimburse losses up to a limit as stated in Schedule of Benefit.
